A special event that used to last only 13 nights, Freeform’s Halloween extravaganza was extended to span the entire month of October. Throughout the month, the network will play Halloween-themed movies that will satisfy viewers of varying ages.
On Saturday, along with five Halloween movies, Freeform viewers can take in an additional treat: the 31 Night of Halloween Fan Fest. Hosted by actors Vanessa Hudgens and Jordan Fisher, the TV special will be a celebration of some of the best Halloween movies out there. It will also feature musical performances by Kristin Chenoweth, JD McCrary, In Real Life, Salt ‘N Pepa and Ray Parker, Jr.
Freeform is kicking off the Halloween spooktacular at 7:00 a.m. ET with ParaNorman, a film about a young boy who has the ability to speak with the dead. When zombies rise from their graves, the boy must use his courage and abilities to stop a centuries-old witch’s curse from coming true and destroying his town.
Following ParaNorman, viewers can take in the beloved Halloween classic Hocus Pocus at 9:00 a.m. ET. After accidentally freeing a coven of evil witches, played by actors Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Majimy, three teens have to steal the witches’ spell book and stop the witches from becoming immortal.
Shortly after 11:00 a.m., The Simpsons: Treehouse of Horror will play, followed by the movie version of Scooby-Doo at 1:40 p.m. Not to be confused with the television cartoon, the 2002 film version features Freddie Prinze Jr., Sarah Michelle Gellar, Matthew Lillard and Linda Cardellini. The gang gets back together after a hiatus and travels to an island to solve a mystery.
Continuing the Scooby-Doo theme, Freeform will play Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed at 3:45 p.m. and then a repeat of Hocus Pocus at 5:50 p.m.
Later in the evening, viewers will be able to catch the 31 Nights of Halloween Fan Fest premiere at 8:00 p.m., followed by Goosebumps at 9:30 p.m. Finally, if viewers haven’t had their fill of fright, they can watch Monster House at 11:30 p.m.
Users can watch all 31 Nights of Halloween content directly from their television or through the Freeform mobile application. The app is compatible with a variety of devices and smart televisions, but may require valid cable provider credentials to access.
