The world No. 4 is a 10/1 favorite with Bet MGM and an 11/1 favourite with both DraftKings and FanDuel, as he looks to put a disappointing performance at the Memorial Tournament behind him.
Johnson missed the cut at Muirfield Village last week after carding an 8-over par 80 in each of the first two rounds, but is the man to beat this week.
That is partly down to his recent form, Johnson won the Travelers Championship at the end of last month, and partly down to the fact that in his career Johnson has won three tournaments after missing the cut in his previous start.
More importantly, the world No. 4 faces a field that is significantly weaker than those of events played since the PGA Tour resumed after the coronavirus-enforced lockdown last month.
Along with Johnson, former world No. 1 Brooks Koepka is the only player in the top-10 of the world rankings in action at TPC Twin Cities this weekend.
Along with Tony Finau, who finished eighth last week, Koepka is 12/1 with DraftKings and FanDuel and 16/1 with Bet MGM.
Koepka finished tied for 62nd at the Memorial Tournament after shooting an 8-over par 80 on the final round.
The four-time major winner’s post-lockdown form has been largely underwhelming. The Floridian finished tied for 32nd at the Charles Schwab Challenge last month, which he followed up with a seventh-place finish at the RBC Heritage before missing the cut at the Workday Charity Open earlier this month.
Koepka underwent stem cell treatment after the Tour Championship in August last year to address an issue to his left patellar tendon, which he aggravated when he slipped on concrete at the CJ Cup in South Korea just over a month later.
He missed three months at the end of last year, but an MRI scan he underwent last week showed there has been no significant improvement. The former world No.1, however, dismissed the suggestion his injury was to blame for his disappointing form.
“It’s not an excuse of why I’ve been playing bad, I can promise you that,” he told Golf Channel.
Finau, meanwhile, is a 14/1 second-favorite with both FanDuel and Bet MGM. The 30-year-old finished tied for 23rd in Blaine last year, after carding a sub-70 score in each of the four rounds.
Behind Koepka and Finau, Tommy Fleetwood is a 16/1 as he makes his PGA Tour debut after the lockdown. The Briton ranks 12th in the world and has finished runner-up at the U.S. Open and The Open Championship over the last two years.
Meanwhile, defending champion Matthew Wolff and Paul Casey start the tournament at 25/1, with Harris English, Russell Henley and Lucas Glover 33/1 outsiders.
Wolff finished second at the Rocket Mortgage Classic last month and recovered from a disappointing opening round of 77 last week to finish tied for 22nd. The 21-year-old ranks 12th on the PGA Tour in terms of strokes gained off the tee and will be a man to keep an eye out on this week.
Glover, meanwhile, has made the cut in each of the five events played since the resumption, finishing in the top-25 on four occasions and will be looking to continue his excellent run of form on a course where he finished tied for seventh a year ago.
