The former wide receiver often receives autograph requests from 49ers fans like Reddit user JoeB_302, who posted a photo of a football signed (in a very unique manner) by Clark.

The user, Joe, explained his experience in an email to Perform Media. He said he met Clark at the Ford dealership he works at.

“We had a great chat about that game. He told me all he could think about was going to the Super Bowl after the catch. Very nice guy, and his time spent on the ball was very generous.”

He was happy to see the ball once Clark was finished.

“I was very surprised when I saw the illustration, and I immediately sent a picture of it to my best friend, a lifelong Dallas fan.”

If you need a refresher on “The Catch,” the 49ers trailed the Cowboys, 27-21, with 58 seconds left in the 1982 NFC Championship Game. Joe Montana, pursued by three Dallas defenders, rolled out and threw the ball to a spot that appeared to be out of bounds. But Clark leaped and hauled in the pass with his fingertips. San Francisco went on to win the Super Bowl.
