The two groups are the Silicon Valley Community Foundation and The San Francisco Foundation, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. Both organizations are community outreach programs that specialize in public discussion and advocacy.
The move comes after Kaepernick knelt for the national anthem during the NFL’s preseason as a protest toward “a country that oppresses black people and people of color.” He immediately received backlash for being unpatriotic, but his team has stayed by his side.

Kaepernick also said he would donate the first $1 million of his NFL salary this season to social justice charities, and that the money he receives for the spike in his jersey sales will also go to similar causes.
