The team unveiled Franklin to the world on Tuesday, but Grantland’s Zach Lowe got the inside scoop earlier this week. Lowe explained the process:

According to Lowe, the 1,000 kids said they “liked fluffy things and blue things” and Franklin was born. The team has already created a Twitter account for the mascot dog and he’s been tweeting away, calling out Portland Trail Blazers center Robin Lopez.

In case you’re unaware, Lopez has been on a mascot-attacking mission. He’s attacked the mascots of Pistons, Spurs, Hawks and Rockets, and got in a Twitter fight with the Cavaliers mascot.

Franklin’s first appearance will come on Friday, Feb. 20.
