Police quickly arrested Antoine Jones, 16, on adult charges of assault with intent to murder. Jones’s lawyer says he’s innocent, but if convicted he could be sentenced to life in prison. Police were investigating a possible gang connection, but it seemed more likely that the shooting capped a day of escalating tension between unorganized kids from rival neighborhoods. If Jones ends up in prison, he would be following in the footsteps of his father, who has been serving time for his role in a notorious cocaine ring since Antoine was 5 years old.
